      <title>An insomniac's history of programming languages</title>
      <description>&lt;p&gt;A fellow developer sent me &lt;strong&gt;&lt;a href="http://steve.yegge.googlepages.com/tour-de-babel"&gt;this link&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/strong&gt; late last night.  I confess I haven&amp;#8217;t laughed as hard in a long time.  Till I cried.  After reading the first 2 or 3 sentences, I thought that this guy must have been writing on his 3rd or 4th pint in the wee hours.  Whether or not he was, his diatribe is informative, insightful and at points killingly funny.&lt;/p&gt;


The comedy has as lot to do with hitting the mark, like David H. Hannsen did recently on &lt;a href="http://www.loudthinking.com/"&gt;his blog&lt;/a&gt; with this little piece of Java code whose humor is inherent:
